All three people on board died when their P2V, a twin-engine converted
military plane, crashed near Stockton in Tooele County.
The firefighting plane was en route from Missoula, Mont. to Alamogordo, N.M.

Gert Marais, 42, of Fort Benton, Montana, a U.S. Forest Service contract
pilot was killed on April 15, 2008 when his Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) crashed while
fighting a wildland fire at Fort Carson. Marais crashed about 6:20
in the evening along Colorado 115 at mile marker 34 near Fort Carson.
Marais was a pilot for Aero Applicators, a contractor for aerial
firefighting services to the U.S. Forest Service.
