There is required aviation training through the Department of
the Interior. There are 4 on-line computer courses to be completed with a fifth recommended.
Upon successful completion there will be a certificate that you may
print out for your records. You should also forward it to your company.
As I understand it you must present this certificate to the OAS Check
Pilot, or at least be on record as having completed it, when you go to
get re-carded.
The courses can be found at the Interagency Aviation Training website.
The link is at the bottom.
There are 3 required courses to complete for Helicopter pilots.
They are as follows:
H1: Basic Fire Behavior & Tactics
H2: Organization, Communication & Airspace
H3: Fire Helicopter Operations
|

and, highly recommended, just in case:
Grand Canyon
National Park Special Flight Rules Area Module
- Pilot Version.
First
follow the link at the end.
You will have to establish a profile and
then log in. After that go to the Online Courses tab.
Scroll down
nearly all the way until you see the text below.
Then just click the courses that apply to you and complete them at your leisure.
